The builders don’t keep their promise to correct visible problems like botched drywall and messy paint jobs. One bathroom has the hot/cold water switched we almost burned our hands. Sales rep. not knowledgeable about certain features so it is best you ask someone in charge so you don’t buy a home and realize things you were advised were standard are an add on. You are given cheap mulch, sod and shrubs. ... More

We made our home purchase based upon the lot. The entire process with Century was a struggle. This is a one year build. The original construction manager was replaced halfway and of course all of the agreements and understandings disappeared with him including the marked up preconstruction plans. Here is a not all inclusive list of some of the problems. Sod was just laid over rocky sand. No borders were placed between sod and landscaping. Roof is stick framed. Master shower drain was clogged with trash and unmentionables. AC was not properly charged. Jacuzzi tub was changed to plain tub. Sinks in Master Bath were shoved to the sides, so they moved the light fixtures. Entry bench was 1/2 the size of the model. Four months after closing we are still waiting for warranty work to be completed. Sales person we worked with is no longer with the company either. Paint spattered everywhere. Kitchen cabinets had to be replaced, we had to put our foot down on that one. Doors have uncommonly high gaps under them. Decorative railing is already showing signs of rust. We had to hire an independent home inspector to inspect the house there were so many things wrong with it. Responsiveness of the staff is very slow and in some cases argumentative. Finance department seems to want you to tie up the entire purchase price of the house or makes threats the entire time you are building the house. Was assured I could park my truck in the third car garage but it doesn't come close to fitting in the narrow doorway. However, at the end of the day we love our house. Just be prepared to micromanage the process. ... More

Trees, bushes and sod are buried or placed on red clay and rocks without soil amendment. Plants, trees and grass struggle to grow. Management ignores it. Love the style of home, but I continue to encounter issues around workmanship and poor follow up from the company. For instance, I Had a warranty issue and though I followed the online process per the builder, I never received a call from the warranty department to complete the process. I contacted the community warranty leader to get the job done. From the time I reported water damage to the time of completion of the issue and the aesthetics was well over a month, for an issue that could have been addressed in one day. No “crew” was onsite for more than 20 minutes to correct my problem. But Very frustrating to take lead on getting each crew out, as the lack of response from the warranty department was huge. After the initial call, I never heard from the department again. Overall, The paint job and quality of the building of this home was very poor and the crew that executed the work was unskilled and unprofessional. The theme that rings clear to me in this community is you get a bang for your buck, so the lack of quality is to be expected. Very disappointing. Pictures available and my home is always open if anyone cares to visit for confirmation of my claim. ... More

My wife and I were extremely excited about our first home. We closed on our home on Dec 17th. On the day of closing we went to our new home to see if everything that was requested to be fixed was done. We walked in extremely disappointed. Nothing was done. Ryan said, that everyone was busy with the holidays coming up. Therefore, they were a little behind. My wife and I understood. We also run a business and holidays can make projects run behind. Ryan promised to get everything done within the next week or so. Our first baby was due on January 9th. So we figured everything would be done by then. It was not. We decided that it would be easier on my wife and our new born baby to wait to move in till everything was done. February came and our home was not finished. We didn’t understand why it was taking so long to get this done. Finally, we decided to move into our home because we didn’t know how long it was going to take to get things done. We got in contact with Mike and he was very nice and understood our frustration. He finished up everything that needed to be done. He texted us to keep us informed. Now that my wife and I have lived in our home for two months we have noticed that our wall down stairs in the entry is bubbled. I was told that there is a vent there and that is why it looks like that. Which I think is completely bs. Then, the wall in the kitchen moves when you lean on it. We tried to get that fixed but I guess it can’t be. Which sucks because our utility room is behind that wall and we can hear it moving. I really do appreciate Mike and his partner. They did a good job on finishing up our walkthrough list. They were also nice and very understanding. What sucks is that we had to wait over two months to get everything done because of that we couldn’t move into our home and on top of that have people working on the house with our new born baby. ... I purchased my home in September 2019. Century is now refusing to complete warranty work unless I remove my domestic partner from our home due to a few strongly worded emails he sent to the warranty manager after poor communication from Century as to when repairs would be made. I now have a damaged floor, damaged exterior column, cracked tiles in the master bath shower that remain in disrepair. Someone from Corporate needs to get involved as we do not trust the Atlanta legal and mgmt team. We would like to avoid a lawsuit. All I am asking is that Century meet its contractual obligations & complete the warranty work without spurious restrictions as to who can be in the home while the repairs are being made. ... More

I've been in my new home for 3 1/2 months right now and have not been happy with the quality of workmanship and materials of the home both inside and out-things are began to fall apart and when I send home warranty request I have to send them twice before anyone answers and when they do they said my phone number was not working but yet they have my email address and I'm certain I put the correct phone on the warranty request. I know they are cheap homes but still the workmanship and materials should not be cheap, I'm just not use to this quality of anything and I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" really apply here and an uneasy feeling I felt when I moved in. ... New builder was incredibly slow and unresponsive in getting issues resolved in a timely manner. I had to get in contact with the previous builder to get multiple issues fixed. The HOA sits idly by while infractions to the guidelines are being committed. I have followed all the necessary procedures to resolve a grievance with a neighbor as well as listing the infractions being committed, and it has been well over 80 days with no resolution. This is the first community I've lived in that allows trash cans to be placed in their yard leading to pests and trash cans falling over spilling garbage. I've sent photos to the HOA of garbage in my yard from these spilled over trash cans and to no surprise they have done nothing. This has been a terrible home buying experience and I will not be doing business with this organization in the future. ... More

I’m part way through my 4th month of owning my first home. Meeting my neighbors and sharing stories – some of them horror about our brand new homes. I think I’ve faired a bit better than some, but overall I have decided the quality of the home is not worth the money I paid for it. It’s become very clear to me the reason my house was ready 1.5 months earlier than anticipated --- it was a poor construction job with poor and cheap materials – it was rushed! I’ve submitted many service requests to fix some of my issues and will be submitting many more. I am trying to be patient with my place in line to address my fixes as I know Covid delayed many requests ahead of me. During my walkthrough/orientation with John on May 22, we noticed the main water pipe in my garage was dripping. John told me to ‘keep an eye on it’! Of course with me being brand new to a house, I took John’s nonchalant comment to mean this is no big deal….main water pipes drip! Well John, shame on me for trusting you and shame on you for dismissing a major issue! That pipe dripped for months and caused a puddle and now a permanent stain on my garage floor and baseboard. Took 2 visits from a plumber to finally fix it! Many thanks to David who actually cared, took action and was angry along with me that this was let go and ignored by the company! Definitely poor workmanship in the first place which left some pretty hefty charges for the warranty team to have a plumber sent out twice! Think of the time and money that could have been saved if the pipe was properly installed in the first place! This issue seems to be resolved. Every time I look at the stain, I am reminded of the situation. There seems to be a disconnect between the builder and the HOA. Gates continue to remain open during the day even though construction is complete. Robin shared with me that she did notify the HOA that all homes were sold and the sales office was closed down. We’ve (me personally) have had teenagers from Rhodes Ranch walking on top of our walls, going into our yards and even the sales office house being vandalized. I was also told packages have been stollen from people’s front doors. The gate is not full proof, but would be best to have it closed at all times. I’ve reached out to the HOA --- zero response. The community looks like we have no HOA as some front yards are in shambles! Hoping we soon see why we pay $85 a month and the HOA holds home owners accountable! These were not cheap homes and I would hope all owners are held to the rules of the HOA and keep up with their landscaping. At the beginning of Aug, to my surprise, there were 4 workers breaking up the side walk at the end of my driveway. I was not notified whatsoever! I could not take my car out of my garage to go anywhere – I was stuck! I was told the wiring for the street’s internet was a mess and the only way to fix it was to dig it all up! Of course I understand it was unavoidable but whomever ordered this job should have the decency and respect to knock on my door to inform me and suggest I move my car out of the garage should I need it. But nope --- not Century! I contacted Cortny and she immediately came to speak to the workers to ask the same questions I did. She sincerely felt embarrassed that I was not informed and she could not apologize enough! Wow --- someone actually cares! At the end of the day I went back out to inquire about the days work. Unfortunately, the workers needed to come back the next day to dig in another section of the driveway. At least this time I could be proactive and move my car out of the garage. After 5 days of having a mess at the end of my driveway it was over, however part of my pavers on the driveway were damaged, a few plants were in disarray and there was sand everywhere! Cortny came to my rescue. She had my pavers fixed and my driveway and front door power washed. Cortny checked on me each day during the fiasco to make sure I was ok and keeping me informed. The ordeal ended with a lovely bouquet of roses at my front door. Cortny felt so bad on how this situation was handled, she took it upon herself to show me she cared and was here to help me and gave me lovely flowers. Unnecessary of course, but she made me feel like she truly cares and was and will be here to help me. Thank you Cortny! I guess now I can say I received a gift from Century ……because clearly along with the cheap construction, the build and sales teams are too cheap to provide a thank you gift to any of us in the community! Even a $100 gift certificate at Home Depot would have sufficed! I hear of other builders/sales in Las Vegas buying wine, gift baskets even Tiffany vases!!! Wow! I plan to make this my forever home, but can’t say I’d ever purchase from or recommend Century. Seems the construction team do a half-a** job leaving the warranty team holding the bag of damaged goods not to mention having to deal with frustrated and angry home owners. My feedback to Century is to increase the standards of quality and hire construction workers who know what they are doing and care to do a decent job. ½ million dollar homes should not have the issues we are having! And I would bet the warranty team would save thousands if the construction was done properly and materials were of higher quality! I look forward to the day when I can say my house is completely and properly built! ... More

Century Communities responded:
Thank you Laura for taking the time to let us know about your experience. Also sharing with us about how Cortny our customer relations manager brought some rays of light to your experience. Sales process was great. Quality of home is fine. However, the weekend prior to closing Century failed to secure our home, and subcontractors used our home as a break room. Due to work boots, Sheetrock mud, etcetera, our hardwoods were destroyed. We’re almost 4 months out now and century still hasn’t done the right thing and replaced them, even though their representatives agree that needs to happen. We have other issues as well. As home building has become a day laborers occupation, the former craftsman is now a dinosaur in the industry. With the need for rapid closing times, and completion rates, the industry as a whole has adopted a standard of per-fabricated faux material, and lower overall costs; they, the industry, willing sacrifices quality, craftsmanship and attention to detail. The only people that suffer from this model are the homeowners. The reality is that most homeowners don't even realize they suffer from the effects of this business model as the awe and shock of ownership is very appealing, As a family we have many grips with this process, and although we know we are not alone in our dissatisfaction, with the quality of the home and the plans for the community, legally we are without recourse. In my casual conversation with many members of the community, there seems to be a very common theme of unhappiness and frustration, however, "I guess we will just have to deal with it," positions. So my review is simple, Centuries Communities as a product sucks. I would not recommend their properties to friends or family. ... More
